Tuesday, October 9, 2012 ~ 7:30pm ~ Kresge Recital Hall

Awarded a Loft/McKnight Artist Fellowship for Writers, Catherine Friend’s need to write is apparent in the range of her publications from her first memoir Hit be a Farm: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Barn (2006) to Sheepish: Two Women, Fifty Sheep & Enough Wool to Save the Planet (2011).  Friend has also drawn on the farm and its inhabitants for a number of children’s books including The Perfect Nest (2007) and Barn Boot Blues (2011) complete with colorful illustrations and energy in their story telling that make them wonderful to share with children.

It is Friend’s ability to observe and share the ordinary details of life and the world around us in ways both profound and laugh-out-loud funny that keep her readers engaged and coming back for more.  For more information, visit Catherine's web site.
