Desktop Computers

The library has 18 computers with Windows 7 -- 12 on the main level and 6 on the lower level. Students, faculty and staff from Augustana and Sioux Falls Seminary may login to these computers using their Novell login. Guests and visitors may have up to 1 hour of desktop computer access per day. Please see a library staff member for more information. All computer use is governed by the library's Computer Use Policy.

Laptops

The library has 32 Windows 7 laptops available for check out by students, faculty and staff of Augustana and Sioux Falls Seminary. These laptops have wireless capabilities and are for use within the library for up to 6 hours.

There are 2 iMac stations on each level of the library. These machines are set up to facilitate quick use of the following web sites

Printers

There are 3 black and white laser printers -- one on each level of the library. These printers are installed on the library's desktops and laptops. Users may install the printer on their personal laptop - Windows XP - Windows Vista - Windows 7 instructions and Mac instructions.  Printing is free for students, faculty, and staff of Augustana and the Sioux Falls Seminary.

• Color printing -- The library has 2 color printers and a poster printer. These services require staff assistance and have associated fees.
• Microfilm printing -- There is a microfilm/fiche reader/printer on the lower and main levels of the library. Printing is free for students, faculty, and staff of Augustana and the Sioux Falls Seminary.

Photocopiers

There is a photocopier on the lower and main levels of the library. Copying is free for students, faculty, and staff of Augustana and the Sioux Falls Seminary.

Scanners

The library has 2 scanners available for public use. One is located on the main level - adjacent to the main circulation desk. The other scanner is housed in the Media Lab on the lower level.

Video editing stations

IMac--Video Editing I--ILife (including IMovie, IPhoto, IDVD, ITunes, GarageBand etc.), Final Cut Express (including Sound Track), Adobe CS5 suite (including Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign), Adobe Acrobat Professional, Firefox, and Microsoft Office.

IMac--Video Editing II--ILife (including IMovie, IPhoto, IDVD, ITunes, GarageBand etc.), Final Cut Studio (including Final Cut Pro, SoundTrack Pro, DVD Studio Pro, LiveType, and Motion), Adobe Photoshop Elements 8, Firefox, and Microsoft Office.

IMac--Video Editing III--ILife (including IMovie, IPhoto, IDVD, ITunes, GarageBand etc.), Final Cut Express Suite for video editing (includind Livetype and SoundTrack), Adobe CS4 suite (including Photoshop and Illustrator etc.) Adobe Acrobat Professional, Skype, Firefox, and Microsoft Office.

Windows PC--Video Editing III--Adobe Premiere Elements (video editing program), Adobe Photoshop Elements, Adobe Acrobat Professional, Microsoft Office. This computer has a scanner attached.

Green Screen room

The Media Lab includes a small studio complete with greenscreen and lighting. A greenscreen allows you to shoot video footage in front of a green background, which can easily be removed in video editing software and replaced with a background of your choice. The same process can be used for still photography.

Assistive Technologies

• Kurzweil Reader –- Scans materials and reads to student using text-to-speech (TTS) synthesis technology.
• Merlin Desktop Magnifier—Enlarges text and objects.
• Video Phone – Phone conversations can be conducted using sign language.
