Marnah Saetveit Lund lives in Virginia. After graduating from Augustana in 1962 she taught art in public schools in Minnesota and California. She married Lieutenant Jon Lund of the United States Navy in 1967 and together explored the world through Jon's assignments to Japan, Hawaii, Iceland, and various locations across the continental United States. While raising their three sons, Marnah stayed at home and continued to nurture her creativity through art.
John Saetveit graduated from Augustana in 1970. In June of that year he suffered a tragic accident which took his life. Though she grieved deeply, Marnah continued to feel his presence guiding her throughout her life. Marnah came to believe that she and John had formed a secret pact before they were born: that one of them would depart this world early in order to reveal to the other the deeper truths about death, life, and love. These lessons, along with her conviction that God weaves all lives together in a greater design, form the heart of The Pact. In recognition of this enduring bond, Marnah credits her brother, John, as a coauthor.
