How do I see what's available at the library?

The library offers books, ebooks, articles, games, movies, and more! To see what is available, start by searching the library catalog. You can also do a quick search on the library's home page or limit by format. Mikkelsen Library uses WorldCat as our catalog, so not only will you see what is available at our library but you'll also see what's available at libraries around the world. If there is an item you would like that we don't have, you can submit a request to get it through our Interlibrary Loan service.

How do I reserve a study room?

Mikkelsen Library offers 12 study rooms available to students and staff. Ten rooms are located on the upper level and two rooms are located on the lower level. Each room includes a 55" LCD TV with the capability of connecting to laptops. All study rooms except 304 have a whiteboard. The two lower level rooms have a Blu-ray DVD player in the room.

Please reserve your room in advance. Reservations may be made online for the current day and the next day. Individuals are limited to a maximum of 3 hours per day. Check in at the front desk of the library to get the room key. Please note, if you are more than 15 minutes late your reservation will automatically cancel.

How do I get items that aren't available at Mikkelsen Library?

If you would like an item that is not available at Mikkelsen Library, you can submit a request to get that item through Interlibrary Loan. The Interlibrary Loan Service, available to students and staff, allows us to borrow items from libraries around the world. If you find an item in the library catalog or in one of our databases that is not available, there is often a link to request the item through interlibrary loan right there in the catalog or database. You can also submit a request and find more information on the Interlibrary Loan webpage.

How do I check my library account and renew my items?

Students and staff are able to log in to their account and renew items. There is a link to Your Library Account on the library home page under the search box. Enter your school user name and password to view your account.

How do I get help with my research?

Librarians are available for research help on a drop-in basis or you can schedule an appointment (either in person or virtually). During the academic year, librarians are available from 10am-10pm Monday - Thursday; 10am-4pm on Friday; and 2pm-9pm on Sunday. You can stop by the front desk/reference desk to get assistance.

How do I access library resources from off-campus?

The library offers students and staff off-campus access to the library's electronic resources via a proxy server. The login is the same as your myaugie/Canvas/myseminary login. Watch a tutorial! For password information or to report a problem, call the library (605.274.4921) or e-mail a librarian (augielibrarians@augie.edu).

How do I find an item that is on reserve for my class?

Items that have been put on reserve for a specific class are kept at the main desk of the library. Be prepared to share your professor's name and class number with library staff so they can find the item. Items on reserve usually have a shorter check-out period (usually 2 hours) and often have to be used in the library. 

How do I print in the library?

Printers/Copiers are available on the main level and lower level of the library. Printing from PaperCut to any of these machines is free of charge. Log in to your PaperCut account to print. The machines also have scan-to-email capability. 

The library has desktop computers available on the first and second levels of the library, as well as laptops that are available for check out and use in the library. Log in to your PaperCut account to print. 

Students and staff are able to use their personal devices to print to the library printers by using Follow-Me-Printing. View information on how to install Follow-Me-Printing.

Color printing is available at the main circulation desk for $.15 per page ($.25 for double-sided printing). 

Media Services offers large format printing and 3D printing. Contact Media Services staff for more information about these services.

How do I access the technology available at the library?

The library has multiple types of technology available to students and staff.

The following items can be checked out at the main library desk:

  • Portable phone chargers
  • Laptop chargers
  • Portable DVD players
  • Computer adapters
  • Headphones
  • Laptops to use in the library

Media Services, located on the 1st floor of the library, offers equipment and software to design, create, and present multimedia projects.

Laptops available for use outside of the library can be checked out in Media Services.
