Danielle (Elle) Billing ('07) graduated from Augustana with degrees in education and moved to Twin Falls, Idaho to teach deaf and hard-of-hearing students for several years. Always artistic, she started creating and selling art in 2018, eventually leaving her teaching career to create art full time. She now lives in North Dakota assisting her parents on their farm with her deaf Australian Cattle dog, Winkie. Elle's latest publication, Hoorf podcast, started in 2022. Hoorf refers to the sound Winkie often makes when she barks.
Hoorf: Radical Care in a Late Capitalistic Heckscape centers around Elle's conversations with guests to "dig at the roots of our collective fatigue, explore ways to direct our care in compassionate and sustainable ways, and harness creative expression to heal ourselves and our world" (Hoorf intro). Episodes explore everything from burn-out to queerness, to finding joy, creativity, and healing from traumas. Find Elle's podcast, blog, art, and more at elleandwink.com. You can also listen to Hoorf on your preferred podcast platform.
