OER Copyright and Mikkelsen Library Resources

By definition, Open Educational Resources are made available under various open licenses that permit free reuse, revision, and customization for education.  OER may still be copyrighted.  The most commonly used licensing for Open Educational Resources is one of the six Creative Commons Licenses.

The Mikkelsen Library also makes databases of digital materials available, which although they are not Open Educational Resources, are licensed for use in teaching. Links to these library resources can be embedded in Moodle.

For information on how to use copyright materials that are not licensed by the library or under an open license, explore our guide on Copyright and Fair Use.
