Palmer Eide (1906-1991) ('30) started teaching art at Augustana in 1931. during his tenure at Augustana, he became a professor of art and chared the art department. His liturgical work is displayed throughout the campus and in the community. A lifelong student of art, he continued his studies at Cranbrook Academy of Art, Harvard University, and the Art Institute fo Chicago. Eide served as a Fulbright Lecturer in Art at National College of Art in Lahore, West Pakistan, from 1964-65. He achieved many honors in his lifetime, including the Biennial Governor's Award ('76}, Who's Who in teh Midwest, Who's Who in the Humanities, and the Augustana College Alumni Achievement Award ('62), among others. His art is featured in many churches and buildings in the communities near Sioux Falls. He sometimes collaborated with fellow artist and colleague Ogden Dalrymple on artwork at the Augustana.
