Sculpture professor emeritus Steve Thomas is dedicated to using his experience in both private and public art to serve the community through his work as an artist. An Augustana College graduate, he holds a Master of Fine Arts from the University of South Dakota, with further studies at the University of Minnesota and in Italy. He has also taught sculpture in France and Great Britain. Passionate about art education and fostering creative thinking in children, Steve has numerous public artworks displayed in Sioux Falls and throughout the region. A recipient of the Sioux Falls Mayor's Award in the Arts, he has also served on the Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation Board for over a decade and played a key role in overseeing the pre-architecture program within the art department.
