Rodger Ellingson attended Augustana, graduating from St. Cloud State University in Minnesota in 1975. He went on to earn his M.S. in Rehabilitation Counseling from Montana State University in Billings. He took art classes, but he primarily taught himself. His bright, colorful style evokes a sense of cheerfulness and joy. His art is often shown at the Center of Western Studies at Augustana University, East Bank Art Gallery, NV Studio, Myer's Deli, and in art shows throughout the region. In 2019 he won the second place Two-Dimensional Award in the CWS Artists of the Plains Art Show. He lives in Sioux Falls.
