Tom Shields holds a B.S. from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas, and an M.F.A. from Louisiana Tech University. He began teaching art at Augustana University in 1992, during the early days of computer graphics, and became the institution's first full-time graphic design instructor. Since then, Shields has been instrumental in growing the graphic design department and continues to exhibit his artwork throughout the region.
