Ogden Dalrymple (1908-1991) graduated from the University of Michigan in 1935 with a BA in Fine Arts. He was a free-lance artist until WWII during which he enlisted in the army and became a camouflage designer for troops in Europe. After his honorable discharge he came to teach art at Augustana with his friend, Palmer Eide. He was a lifelong student of art, studying at Cranbook Academy of Art, Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center, Claremont College UCLA, and the University of Minnesota as well as teaching art at Augustana for 27 years. He continued at Augustana as the Artist-in-Residence for another 18 years until his death in 1991. He is known worldwide for his medallion designs, and his liturgical artwork. Augustana campus and several local churches have pieces he created. He sometimes collaborated with fellow artist and colleague, Palmer Eide.
