Donald F. Montileaux is a South Dakota artist from Rapid City and a member of the Ogala Lakota tribe. A skilled storyteller and illustrator, he has published several books of Lakota stories for children. Montileaux graduated from the Institute of American Indian Art in Santa Fe, NM, and Black Hills State College in Spearfish, SD. His artistic focus includes painting and ledger art, utilizing a variety of materials such as paper, canvas, and animal hides. In recognition of his contributions, he was inducted into the South Dakota Hall of Fame in 2014.
